Known primarily for his halftime sonics including the single Let ‘Em Drown // Bubbles which marked his entry onto the METHLAB RECORDINGS label, Subp Yao has long pioneered an exploratory approach to auditory design. This philosophy is evident throughout his sizeable back catalogue of releases across labels such as Unchained Recordings and WAVES, including remixes and collaborations with H0ST, Dayle, and Razat.

Subp Yao’s stride into the 140 domain with this release effortlessly incorporates his unique influences into the genre’s defining characteristics across its four tracks. Within the EP’s segments of distinctive bassweight are the hallmarks of Subp Yao’s myriad sources of influence, from warped 808 drum beats to sinusoidal bassline undulations and vast atmospheres that echo with the impacts of their sparse yet powerful inhabitants.
